Facility
Our server network is located in a 22,000 square foot underground telco grade
IDC (Internet Data Center) facility in downtown Los Angeles – the hub of
telecommunications and Internet connectivity for the area. Housed in the
prestigious Garland Building, this multi-million dollar facility is seismically
designed to withstand most natural disasters - including an earthquake of 8.3 in
magnitude. The spacious facility features raised floors, state-of-the-art fiber
optics and a redundant self contained cooling system. With 4,000 amps of battery
backup, and four 1.5-megawatt turbo-charged generators, the facility can be
separated from city water and power services and still remain fully operational
for up to 28 days - the backup generators alone could power a city of 20,000
people.
Network Bandwidth
(mt) Media Temple's network architecture provides fast, clean, redundant
connectivity to the global Internet. Our bandwidth is comprised of multiple
OC12, "one hop" connections to Level 3, UUNET, and Global Crossing. We have two
additional standby feeds from Qwest and Cogent. Utilizing the IDC's core network
architecture and advanced routing technologies, (mt) Media Temple is able to
route data to and from businesses in a manner that minimizes the use of
congested public exchanges and private peering points. We provide high
transmission speeds, lower instances of data packet loss, and greater quality of
service to multiple carriers. We uniquely route data traffic using the shortest
paths possible - providing absolute network availability at all times to
Internet users worldwide."
